Reiki is a treatment technique whereby the practitioner is acting as a conduit to universal healing energy. It originated with Dr. Mikao Usui, who wanted to find a way for individuals and practitioners to access the power of Kiko (Japanese Qi Gong) without needing years of practice to cultivate flow. If you have ever looked at the history of energy healing in Asia, you will note that many methods of treatment and energetic anatomy were revealed through observation and meditation. In seeking the answers to initiating flow for the non-initiated and non-practiced, Dr. Usui had visions of a series of Sanskrit symbols that could be used to access the universal energy of Qi (Ki). With this, Rei (Universal Life) Ki (Energy), was created as a healing modality.
Today Reiki is a form of healing recognized and utilized in private practice, hospice, and hospitals in the U.S.
What does Reiki help? Studies have shown differences, in pain, dementia, mood, and more.
