What Is Acupuncture and What Does It Help?

Acupuncture is a tool of Chinese medicine which accesses the flow of energy in the meridians. These pathways or vessels can become clogged or empty creating pain, weakness, swelling, or disease. By inserting a needle at clearly defined points along these pathways we are able to balance the flow. Medical studies have shown increased blood flow, nerve conduction, and histamine production which are necessary for healing, shift with acupuncture.

Acupuncture is effective at treating common cold, allergies, injury recovery, fertility, labor induction, gallbladder attacks, chronic pain issues, longevity issues: diabetes, arthritis, fatigue, and more.

What To Expect During Your Acupuncture Treatment

After an interview process, your practitioner will establish the pattern of dis-ease you are experiencing. This will include questions regarding your health history, digestive function, temperature preferences, and the nature of your complaint. The practitioner will gather data through feeling the pulses at your wrists, looking at your tongue, general observation of body, coloring and voice, and palpation of problem areas. From here a plan is created and the treatment begins. Treatment works best when you come hydrated, nourished (don’t fast before), and dressed in loose comfortable clothing. Afterwards, many find themselves deeply relaxed. It is important to leave enough time after your treatment to “wake up” before you need to meet your next obligation without the need to feel rushed. Your practitioner will let your know the approximate amount of times that would be expected to help you achieve maximum improvement of your condition.
