What Is Craniosacral?
Craniosacral is a soft touch therapy that accesses the flow of cerebrospinal fluid with touch at the cranium, sacrum, and many areas in between. The skull is composed of 22 bones, eight which house the brain. Between these are sutures, connection lines, shape like a highly curved jigsaw pieces. While some have thought these connections to be rigid, craniosacral takes advantage of the ability for these to flex and compensate for changes in cerebrospinal fluid. Craniosacral has the ability to help release old emotions that have been repressed as energy and dis-ease in the body. This modality is also able to access the muscles and connective tissue leading to deep releases within the body, mind, and emotions. Since this is a soft touch modality, it is well suited to children and may help with post-natal and developmental issues.
What To Expect During Your Craniosacral Treatment:
You will lie face up, fully clothed, on a massage table. A series of holds will be applied that may include your head, face, neck, hips, sacrum, ankles and more. What area is held depends on the protocol that best matches the pattern of your experience. The practitioner may talk you through your personal story and imagery or even ask you questions during your treatment to help you reach the deeper levels of healing. This is not counseling but a discussion with the different levels of your emotions and body experiences.
